Leeds Beckett Academic to Appear at Music and Philosophy Festival
Dr Steve Taylor, a senior lecturer in psychology at Leeds School of Social Sciences and the author of several best-selling books on psychology and spirituality, will participate in panels and talks at the weekend-long event at Kenwood House in Hampstead Heath.
He will be talking about spiritual enlightenment or spiritual awakening as he explains: ‘These are usually associated with spiritual traditions like Buddhism or Taoism, but my approach is to take it out of the context of those traditions and treat it from a neutral psychological perspective.’
‘To me, the term ‘spiritual’ has nothing to do with religion. My talk is based on my recent book The Leap, which looks at what it means to be enlightened or spiritually awakened.’
Dr Taylor will also be participating in a debate about thinking and will be sharing his view that overthinking or constant mind-chatter is one of the human beings’ greatest problems and that we should think much less than we do.
The HowTheLightGetsIn London 2022 Festival takes place at Kenwood House from 1st-2nd October.
