Top Ten Most Instagrammed Rivers in Europe
This World Rivers Day on 26th September, B-Well CBD is celebrating the magical waterways of Europe by taking a look at the most loved European Rivers on Instagram.
Whether we’re sharing a bottle of bubbly by the Seine, hiking along the Danube, wine tasting by the Douro, mudlarking along the Thames, or paddleboarding on the Elbe, Europe’s rivers are integral to our shared European culture and history.
Running water is soothing to the soul, and protecting these picturesque rivers means we can enjoy capturing their tranquillity well into the future.
- The River Thames is the most Instagrammed European River by nearly 405,000 posts.
- The Thames and Seine are the only two single country rivers in the top 5.
- The Danube is both the second-longest river in Europe and the second-most Instagrammed.

Londoners will be in no doubt that the Thames deserves to take the top spot, but Parisiens might be shocked to find that the romantic Seine only placed 4th. Both the Thames and the Seine are the only two single country rivers in the top 5, perhaps a nod to the iconic cities that they flow through. The other three rivers in the top 5, the Danube, the Elbe and the Ural, traverse multiple countries and landscapes.
It’s interesting to note that both the Doura and the Loire, whose banks are home to Europe’s award-winning wine-producing regions Loire Valley and the Douro Valley, have many Instagram posts.
